NOTE: Verify with PM & JC before using auto text for date on any document. Using auto text for dates will update the date on the layout to the current date everytime the sheet is opened. This means ArchiCAD can not be used as a reliable record of the issue date of a layout. Autotext should never be used for revision dates!
ArchiCAD provides autotext options for a long and short version of the current date. The date has a default content for both, and thanks to the ArchiCAD community at large we have found a way to edit this format.
The default for all work stations has been mm-dd-yyyy, but D’Genaro recently asked how to change this to yyyy-mm-dd to match our office standard for all other naming and dating conventions. Here are the steps he took:
1. Open Mac System Preferences / Language and Region / Advanced /Dates. Here you can manually change the “Short” date format to our typical (Year/Month/Day) by cutting and pasting or dragging the Date elements. There are drop down options which allow for further formatting.
2. Once that is updated, open/restart archicad and edit the text box you will be using the autotext date. Select autotext/catergory:system/Date(short) which should now be in the correct format.
3. The date should show up in the correct format and highlighted grey. Enjoy
